9 Nov 05New Children's Play Area Opens
The Friends of Poole Park in partnership with the Borough of Poole are pleased to announce that the work on the new Children's Play Area in Poole Park will be finished on Saturday 12th November. The official opening by the Mayor, Cllr Lou Knight will take place at 11am
This Project Supervised by the Borough of Poole's Leisure Services in conjunction with The Friends Of Poole Park was initially funded by a Living Spaces grant to "The Friends" with the majority coming from developers open space contributions.
Doug Chick, Chairman of the Friends of Poole Park, said: "The Friends of Poole Park welcome the opening of this new children's play area and were pleased to be involved in the implementation of this new facility in Poole Park. It brings into use an under-used part of the park and complements the existing children's attractions in this area and enhances the family theme within the centre of the park. We are sure that children will enjoy playing on the new equipment for years to come."
Cllr Don Collier, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for the Environment, Borough of Poole, said: "This project demonstrates how the Council and the community can work together to deliver improvements which might otherwise be difficult to achieve. The Friends contributed not only ideas but crucially, the funding to make this happen, and on behalf of the Council and the people of Poole I would like to thank them for their hard work."
