Packe Family Mausoleum Open to Public

The Packe Family Mausoleum will be opening its doors to the public for the summer on Thursday 27 June.

Built in 1867, the Mausoleum is the last remaining evidence that the Packe family owned most of what is now Branksome Park in the mid 19th century.

Richard Knott of the Urban Design and Conservation Team, said: "This small, stone, chapel-like building was hidden behind trees and dense vegetation until only a few years ago, when in 1993, the Borough of Poole took over the building and restored it to its current condition. The opening on Thursday will take place late afternoon and is open to everyone, there is no need to book, simply turn up at either 4pm, 4.45pm or 5.30pm."

The Packe Mausoleum stands at the top of the road to Branksome Dene Chine car park, just to the rear of 25 Pinewood Road.
