As an extension of the Poole Word and Book Festival the Borough of Poole's Arts Development Unit has teamed up with www.thepeoplespoet.com and Orange to create a unique poetry competition.

Most poems received will be published in a book available for sale in WH Smith, Ottakar's and Amazon.co.uk in December and online at www.thepeoplespoet.com .

To take part text an original poem of 160 characters or less. The more inventive your poem, the better - SMS language, smilies, unusual layout. There is a maximum of three poems per person.

Send your entries to us by doing the following:

Select messages > Write messages > txtpoetry (and then a space) Write your poem, add your name and send it to 83248. The text will be charged at your standard network tariff. The closing date for entries is the 31 October.

Judging will take place in the first week of November and the winners will be informed soon after. The winner of the competition will receive a state of the art Nokia 6600 phone.
