3 Jul 01COUNCIL WATCHDOG PRAISES BOROUGH OF POOLE
The Borough of Poole has been praised by the District Auditor for the quality of its work. The Council's performance indicators place Poole within the top 25% of comparable authorities.The District Auditor, James Luckhurst, presented an evaluation of the Council's Best Value Performance Plan to members of the Executive on 27 June. In his report, he praised the Council's dynamic and open culture. The successes of the Jules Jolliffe campaign and the use of Area Committees to involve local people in decision-making, were quoted as prime examples of the Council's enthusiasm for consulting Poole's residents and businesses and incorporating their views into its plans.
Poole was also praised for being the first local authority to obtain national recognition for its Work Life Balance.
Cllr Brian Clements, Leader of the Council, said: "The District Auditor's glowing report is an outstanding tribute to all those members and officers who contributed to the Best Value Performance Plan. We must now act upon the results of this report in this spirit and with the aim of achieving continuous improvement."
