Lynne Culpin, Area House Manager at the Boyd Road and Northmere Road sheltered housing scheme, has been awarded Meridian TV's Local Hero Award.Lynne is one of only ten local heroes in the Meridian area to receive the prestigious award, an engraved silver plate. She was nominated by resident, Ron Keene who wrote to Meridian telling them about Lynne's hard work and dedication. Ron said: "We all think Lynne's marvellous. She genuinely cares about people."
TV presenter, Fred Dinenage, surprised Lynne with her award in front of delighted residents. Lynne said: "I was totally shocked. All I can say is how happy I am to know that I'm doing a good job."
As House Manager, Lynne is responsible for the health and well-being of the 76 residents living in the scheme's 64 self-contained flats. She visits each resident at least three times a week and helps out where necessary, arranging doctor's appointments or picking up prescriptions. She also helps organise the residents' many social activities which include parties, coffee mornings, outings and bingo.
Meridian will be broadcasting Lynne's surprise ceremony on Thursday 28 June between 6 and 6:30pm.
