POOLE POTTERY DEVELOPMENT

The Borough of Poole's Community Information and Support Services Scrutiny Committee is holding a special meeting on 3 August, to evaluate the criteria used by the Council in negotiating new terms for the Poole Pottery lease.

The meeting is part of a thorough process which has already examined the procedures followed by the Council in making decisions relating to the Pottery development.

Cllr Don Collier, Chairman of the Community Information and Support Services Scrutiny Committee, said: "The examination of decision-making processes is an important role of Scrutiny Committees, whose function it is to ensure that the Council operates in a manner which is open, honest and accountable. In considering the Poole Pottery lease, we will be looking to see whether the Council has received value for money."

Local residents can submit their comments on the criteria used, in writing. Anyone providing comments may be invited to give the Committee further information at the special meeting of the Committee on 3 August.

Details of the criteria used are available from the Civic Centre or online at boroughofpoole.com. Comments must be submitted in writing by Friday 13 July to Beth Stannard, Democratic Services, Borough of Poole, Civic Centre, Poole, Dorset, BH15 2RU.

Editor's Notes:

The Council's approval for the new terms for the lease, amongst other things such as planning permission, was required to enable the redevelopment of the Pottery site on Poole Quay to go ahead.
