P00LE RESIDENTS URGED TO PLAY FOR A LIVING

Children and adults interested in a career in playwork are in for a treat. Poole Early Years Partnership has come up with the novel idea of holding a free play day, in a bid to recruit more play workers in Poole.

Around 20 out of school clubs and play service providers will be attending the event, each one organising fun and games for the children. Activities will include face painting, a bouncy castle, magic shows and a variety of sporting games and toys to play with.

Job hunters will have access to a wealth of information and advice from playwork professionals and training organisations.

Paul Taylor, Chair of Poole Early Years Partnership, said: "We’re hoping the play day will attract people to the profession by demonstrating just how much fun working in childcare can be. We’re focusing in particular on opportunities in out of school clubs, where staff shortages are greatest."

"The Government’s Childcare Strategy to provide more affordable and accessible childcare has dramatically increased the need for qualified childcare workers. There’s never been a better time to work in childcare and playwork."

Adults and accompanied children are invited to join in the fun at Poole Arts Centre on Saturday 24 March between 10am and 3pm.
