I&DeA SPOTLIGHT ON POOLE

The Borough of Poole is hosting a visit this week (26th Feb-2nd March) by a team of local government advisers representing the Improvement and Development Agency (I&DEA).

The Government has asked all Councils to review their decision making processes and become more efficient. The aim of the Local Government Improvement Programme is to offer help to councils who are involved in the process of change, and the team have been invited by Poole Council to assess their current situation and report back on the findings of the review.

Poole is already piloting new ways of working and making decisions. Residents will soon be invited to express their preference from a range of options.

The visit will involve an intense week of meetings and interviews. The team will meet with a wide variety of key groups and individuals who are directly involved with the work of the authority. This will include a cross section of residents groups, local businesses, voluntary groups, senior management and key front line staff.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Brian Clements said " We are delighted that the I&DeA team have accepted our invitation to visit Poole. We value the high level of expertise of the six members and anticipate that the Council will gain enormous benefit from their assessment"

Chief Executive Borough of Poole, Jim Brooks said "We are constantly looking for ways to improve services and to reflect the wishes of our residents. The I&DeA review will help us to find new and better ways of serving the people of Poole".
