26 Oct 06Lucky Winner Bags a Year’s Free Swimming Tuition
Mr Nigel Symonds from Poole has won a year’s free swimming tuition worth £225 thanks to a prize draw organised by Sports & Leisure Management (SLM) at last month’s Poole Park Fest
SLM manage and invest in three council owned leisure centres, Rossmore Leisure Centre, Ashdown Leisure Centre and Dolphin Swimming Pool in partnership with the Borough of Poole.
At the Poole Park Fest on the August bank holiday weekend, SLM invited people to enter their names for the chance to win free swimming lessons, the draw for which took place on 20 September.
Other runner up prizes included one term of free swimming lessons which was won by Ms Julie Wines from Oakdale and one month’s free swimming for a family of four which went to Mrs Sally Shirrell from Poole.
A second competition to win six months’ free health and fitness membership worth £200 was also held at the Fest and was won by Mrs Kim Oldroyd from Hamworthy.
Nigel Symonds said: “I am delighted to have won the year’s worth of swimming lessons. I will be donating the prize to my wife who has never been able to swim so this is a great opportunity for her to learn.”
Councillor Don Collier, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Leisure said: “The team had a great time at the Poole Park Fest meeting people from all over the area and talking to them about the exciting activities and special offers we’ve got planned in the three leisure centres. Congratulations to all of our winners, and we hope this will kick start a whole new health and fitness regime for the people of Poole.”
Mayor of Poole, Councillor Mrs Judy Butt who opened and closed Poole Park Fest for the Friends of Poole Park said: “Poole Park Fest is a terrific event with so much to see and do as the activities organised at the Festival by SLM clearly demonstrated. Thank you to all those who take part in the prize draw competition, I know that this will encourage more people to live healthier and active lives.”
