7 Sep 06Register Professional With The Borough Of Poole
The Borough of Poole has launched Dorset’s first Professional Register, an employment scheme which offers temporary employment assignments within the Council to professionally qualified, skilled and experienced people.
Aimed at those who may have had a career break or be semi-retired or retired the Professional Register offers people the opportunity to utilise their skills and experience without having to make a permanent commitment to work.
Emma Richens, a qualified Accountant, joined the Scheme after a break from work to look after her two small children and is currently working part time in Financial Services on a short term contract in an accountancy role.
Emma said “The Professional Register has given me the opportunity to work part time whilst broadening my professional and technical experience. I have found the Council a friendly and welcoming place to work, and would encourage other professional people to apply to the scheme.
Councillor Neil Sorton, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Resources said, ‘This is an exciting venture for the Borough of Poole and for local people too. There are times when we need some extra staffing support within our Units and the Professional Register will help us maintain our commitment to deliver a high quality service to the residents of Poole. The costs involved are lower too when compared with employing staff through an agency so this scheme really does present an excellent solution for everyone involved.”
The Council are particularly interested in hearing from people with a background in Planning, Environmental Health, ICT, Finance and Social Care (relevant social work qualification and CRB checks would apply), however, applications are invited from people with qualifications or experience in other sectors too.
People applying to join the Professional Register should send a copy of their CV to Sophie Rowson/Lauren Prosser, Personnel and Training Services, Borough of Poole, Civic Centre, BH15 2RU or e-mail s.rowson@poole.gov.uk or l.prosser@poole.gov.uk. For more information about the Professional Register call Sophie or Lauren on 01202 633401.
