14 Dec 00NEW WHEELS FOR DAY CENTRE
Visitors of the Sea View Day Centre, in Parkstone, have received an extra special present this Christmas with the arrival of a new people carrier vehicle.
Sea View in Croft Road, run by the Borough of Poole, is a day centre for adults with learning disabilities serving residents from Poole, Bournemouth and Dorset.
Mrs Susan Hanbury of Lower Parkstone, generously donated a cheque of £10,000 to Sea View to support the work of the centre. The donation has been used to buy an 8-seater Nissan Serena people carrier to help pick up people travelling to the centre. Mrs Hanbury said: "My son Richard has been going to Sea View for over a year now and really enjoys it. The centre provides a great chance for him to meet people and to take part in activities. I hope that the new car will give even more people the chance to enjoy everything the centre has to offer."
The Mayor of Poole, Cllr Mrs Joyce Jones, will be marking the arrival of the vehicle by offering a toast to Mrs Hanbury for her generosity and receiving the keys on behalf of the staff and people who attend Sea View.
Russell Giles, Day Service Manager, said: "The people carrier is a very welcome addition to the centre. The new vehicle will allow us to make the most of opportunities within the whole community. I would like to thank Mrs Hanbury for her kind donation, without which this would not have been possible."
