SAFE COOKING IN CANTONESE

More than 20 Chinese owners of restaurants and takeaways in Poole are going to benefit from a free professional training course on the safe handling of food at Upton House on Tuesday 12th December 2000.

This course, which will be given in Cantonese, is being organised by the Consumer Protection team at the Borough of Poole following on from the success of a similar course provided for 120 local hotels, restaurants, nursing homes, takeaway outlets and other food companies in April this year.

The need for this training to be held in another language was recognised following consultation with local food operators. The training is again being provided in conjunction with consultants and will use a specialist interpreter.

Head of Consumer Protection Services for the Borough of Poole, Peter Pawlowski, said: "We work very closely with food operators to help them attain the highest standards of food safety. We’re pleased to be able to extend this popular course to the wider community of Poole for the first time for the benefit of everyone."
