24 Oct 00ADULT EDUCATION STUDENTS AWARDED
Over 100 Adult Education students received certificates at a recent award ceremony at the Civic Centre.
During the year, 115 students were "Getting Back to Basics" by developing their skills on a variety of courses. In this year alone, 40 students were accredited with English qualifications, 5 students gained awards for English for Speakers of Other Languages, and over 70 students walked away with Maths qualifications. In addition, 12 new Voluntary Tutors completed their Initial Certificate training.
A large number of keen students are developing their skills even further by signing up for additional courses. Yao Cunliffe is one intrepid student who, after successfully completing her Pitman ESOL Intermediate exam, is starting a course at University in January.
Many of the students were able to attend the awards evening, where various certificates were presented by Councillors from the Borough of Poole.
In addition, Poole’s Adult Education Service was presented with the Basic Skills Agency’s Quality Mark, a demanding award given in recognition for the high quality service offered to the Borough’s residents.
