PUBLIC MEETING TO RESTART POPULAR ‘POP-IN’

People are invited to come along to a public meeting at the Broadstone War Memorial Hall, Tudor Road at 3pm, Tuesday 24 October to discuss the future of an Age Concern ‘Pop-In’ for the over-65s in Broadstone.

As well as offering people the opportunity to drop in for a cup of tea and a chat, the Pop-In hosted a range activities, including scrabble, outings, speakers and quizzes, catering for many different needs. The Pop-In was a regular Wednesday afternoon event that attracted more than 30 people every week until it was recently forced to close due to the leader’s resignation.

Sue Ticehurst, Community Liaison and Development Officer, Borough of Poole, said: "Many people are very sad to see the Pop-In close. The Pop-In is valuable in offering a number of different ways of spending the afternoon, an alternative that is not easily available elsewhere. Our aim is not only to restart the Age Concern Pop-In, but also to make it even better than before by providing a greater range of activities. All are welcome to come along to Tuesday’s meeting to offer support and any ideas you may have that could help re-open this very popular Pop-In."

Anyone interested in the leader’s position for the Pop-In should speak to Sue Ticehurst at Tuesday’s meeting, or contact her on (01202) 261174.
