THEME PARKS COME TO POOLE!

Poole’s residents and visitors alike will soon enjoy the benefits of the themed car parks in the town centre.

As with many towns in the UK, visitors to Poole can confuse the multi-storied car parks in the town centre and often report their cars as being lost or stolen. In an effort to resolve this problem Peter Osborne, Car Parks Manager at the Borough of Poole, has come up with a colourful solution.

Quay Visitors, High Street Shops and Dolphin Shopping Centre car parks will each have its own theme and each level will be colour coded for easy recognition. Different stencil pictures, in relation to the particular car park’s theme, will decorate each level.

The Quay Visitors’ Car Park has a nautical theme – each floor will be decorated with its own picture, such as deckchairs on level ‘D’, islands on level ‘I’ and lighthouses on level ‘L’. The High Street Shops car park will have the theme of animals and floors in the Dolphin Shopping Centre car park will be recognised by pictures of products you might buy in the centre.

Peter Osborne, Car Parks Manager at the Borough of Poole, commented: "Our staff often help distressed visitors who believe that their car has been stolen. Quite often they simply are looking in the wrong car parks or on the wrong level."

Jan Knox, Town Centre Manager, said: "Improved signage is part of our town centre strategy. This new system will be a great benefit to car park users and will help to make their visit to Poole an even more enjoyable experience." Pam Turner, Dolphin Shopping Centre Manager, added: "This will certainly enhance customer care with visitors, which will be very welcomed not only at the Shopping Centre but throughout the town".

Work has already begun to implement the new scheme, which will be completed in stages so as to not confuse current car park users.
