16 Oct 00OPEN EVENING FOR BEARWOOD RESIDENTS
Bearwood residents are being given the chance to find out about community services on Wednesday 18 October. From 7-9pm information on a range of topics, from employment and training to childcare and leisure, will be available at the Bearwood School, Baron’s Road.
Advisors will be on hand at the displays to give local residents information about the current and new activities and community services available in the area. There will also be Family Tax Credit Advisors at the evening to give general or individual advice to families eligible to claim this benefit.
Community in Action resident groups are being set up across the Borough with the help of Community Liaison Officers at the Borough of Poole. This event builds on the success of Turlin Moor’s open day which was held in February of this year.
Lynne Payton, Community Liaison Assistant, Borough of Poole, said: "There is a very strong sense of community in Bearwood. The Community in Action residents group, which we helped to set up nearly two years ago, organises many activities and even publishes its own newsletter, the Bearwood Roundup. The purpose of this open evening is to raise awareness among local residents about opportunities open to them."
Refreshments and a supervised children’s play area will be available. Anyone interested in getting further information, please contact Lynne Payton, Community Liaison Assistant, Borough of Poole on (01202) 261170.
