TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF NUFFIELD ROAD TIP SITE

The household waste site at Nuffield Road, Poole has been temporarily closed due to fuel shortages.

The site which takes normal household bulky waste is run by private contractors on behalf of the Borough of Poole.

Contractors closed the site because low fuel reserves have meant they are unable to remove rubbish dumped at the tip.

Collections from Poole's glass, paper and can recycling banks are still taking place but will be monitored whilst the fuel shortage continues.

Peter Pawlowski, Head of Consumer Protection Services, Borough of Poole, said: "Whilst household bin collections are continuing as normal, we are asking people to keep hold of any larger items or garden waste until the tip re-opens. As everyone knows the situation is changing daily at the moment but we hope that once it is resolved, the contractor will be able to re-open the site as soon as possible".
