Funding Opportunity for Voluntary and Community Groups!

Poole Safe Together Partnership is offering community and voluntary groups the chance to bid for funding to help tackle crime and substance misuse in Poole.

Projects will need to tackle one or more of Poole's priorities, as identified in the 2005 - 2008 Crime and Drugs Strategy:

  • Anti-Social Behaviour                                    \n
  • Arson \n
  • Domestic Violence \n
  • Hate Crime - racist and homophobic incidents \n
  • Prolific and Priority Offenders \n
  • Public Reassurance \n
  • Substance Misuse \n
  • Vehicle Crime \n
  • Violent Crime

The first round of bidding took place in May and the Partnership awarded £1,000 to a vehicle crime initiative in the Lilliput and Lower Parkstone area. 3D signs are soon to be put up in the area to remind residents and visitors not to leave valuables on display in their cars. Joan Percy, of Lilliput and Lower Parkstone Neighbourhood Watch said, "A lot of people are well aware of the problem, however when you're busy or in a hurry it is easy to forget to do things you know you should. These signs will act as a colourful and striking reminder."

If you are involved in a community or voluntary group that could help the partnership to address these issues please contact Vikki Howe in the Partnership and Performance Team for more details and an application form on 633497 or email safetogether@poole.gov.uk. Alternatively, you can download an application from the website. The deadline for applications is 14 October 2005.

Groups will need to have a bank account and constitution in order to bid for funding. If you would like help in setting these up, please contact the Borough of Poole's Community Development Co-ordinator on 633045 or email l.maguire@poole.gov.uk.
