MOUNTAIN BIKE STUNT SHOW AT SUMMER FESTIVAL

POOLE people will be treated to some breathtaking stunts by the Mountain Bike UK (MBUK) riders crew on Poole Quay at this week’s Summer Festival Evening.

The Summer Festival Evenings are held every Thursday throughout July and August and attract over 20,000 people each week with an array of live music, street performers and entertainment.

This Thursday, (10th August 2000) top mountain bike trial riders Martyn Ashdon - who rides for Cannondale, Martin Hawyes for Giant, Ian Cooper for Raleigh and Eddie Tongue for Pashley will perform a number of trick stunts including
hops and jumps from ramps and over obstacles.

The MBUK professional Downhill Team will also be at the event signing autographs. Event goers will be able to grab the latest merchandise including new tour t-shirts, videos and goody bags from MBUK, SRAM, SCHWINN, CXOS Sport, Bidabike, Pashley, Peak Performance, Giant Sheperds, Raleigh and Diamond Back.

Anne Simpson, Special Events Manager, Borough of Poole said: "All the normal festival fun will also happen from 6pm-10pm. Young people can have a go at pavement art, board graffiti, DJ-ing, singing and dancing with the ‘Poole Youth Service and NRG Arts Development Project’ by the former tax office. Live music will be performed by the Small Wave Rider, by the Quay Thistle Hotel and Beyond Belief on the Ocean Defender and the finale to the evening will be when the Barfleur Ferry arrives from Cherbourg and sounds its horn to start the fireworks display at about 9.50pm."
