SIZZILING SUN FOR POOLE'S SUMMER OF FUN

Grey skies and cool temperatures have not stopped crowds flocking to Poole's Liverpool Victoria Summer Festival Evenings and as temperatures rise this week, the festival is promising it's busiest night of fun so far.

The biggest festival of its kind on the South coast, the popular event offers free family entertainment every Thursday evening throughout July and August. Each evening ends with a dramatic firework finale at 9.50pm timed to coincide with the arrival of the Barfleur.

Karen Hogarty, Marketing Manager, Borough of Poole, said: "Despite the weather people have still come down to enjoy the Festival Evenings. With a bit a luck the warm, sunny weather will continue as this Thursday promises to be another fun filled night for the Summer Festival."

This week's festival extravaganza has live music to suit every taste from the Thistle Hotel to the Ocean Defender and Custom House. Entertainment includes music from the Alan James Band, Deep Red, Gugge 2000, the Bournemouth Samba Band and Total Access along with performances from Peter Chapman, Paul Riley the Quayside Cloggies and Hobo Morris.

Poole's Youth Services with support from The NRG will have some special treats in store for younger people outside the former Tax Office on the High Street along with all the usual favourite stalls and children's rides.

To allow visitors the chance to walk around events freely and safely, the Quay will be closed to traffic from High Street to Fishermans's Dock between 4.00 pm-11.30 pm each Thursday evening throughout July and August.
