4 Jul 00AFTER SCHOOL FUN GLOBAL STYLE!
Over 150 children from Poole have been experiencing cultures from China to Hawaii as part of National Kids' Club Week. The annual event was organised by the Kids' Club Network, a national charity which aims to raise awareness of the benefits of quality out of school clubs for children, parents and the wider community.
With this year's theme, "Going Global", each Poole out of school club joined in the event and chose to study a different country from around the world.
The week of celebrations comes just as the Government launches a major drive today to recruit people into early years & childcare careers with a series of national TV adverts.
Alison Munro, Out of School Development Worker, said: "Poole has very good quality out of school care for children and because of this, there is a high demand locally. To make sure that all the children and parents who want places have them, we need more people who may be interested in childcare as career to get in touch. Training is available and it is highly rewarding."
She added: "All of the children involved in the Kids' Club Week had a fantastic time learning about the different cultures. Each of the clubs gave them a unique chance to take part in art, music and special sport events helping them to explore the world and find out more about different countries. "
