3 Jul 00SUMMER EXTRAVAGANZA OF FUN!
Dazzling entertainment is the name of the game as Poole's famous fun filled Liverpool Victoria Summer Festival extravaganza kicks off on Thursday 6 July. The biggest festival of its kind on the South coast, the popular event offers the best in free family entertainment every Thursday evening throughout July and August. Each evening ends with a dramatic firework finale at 9.50pm timed to coincide with the arrival of the Barfleur.
Karen Hogarty, Marketing Manager, Borough of Poole, said: "Last year over 20,000 people came along to soak up the sunshine and enjoy the relaxed carnival atmosphere at each event. Both visitors and local residents like to take advantage of the live music and wide variety of entertainment on offer. Each evening is slightly different and a unique experience but all of them are relaxed and friendly which is what draws people each week to join in the fun."
For this year's festival extravaganza, live music to suit every taste will be available the length of the Quay from the Thistle Hotel to the Ocean Defender and Custom House. Fun and entertainment in the shape of the Quayside Cloggies, juggler Peter Chapman and children's entertainer Billy Busker will also be on hand.
Poole's Youth Services with support from The NRG will have some special treats in store for younger people outside the former Tax Office on the High Street along with all the usual favourite stalls and children's rides.
To allow visitors the chance to walk around events freely and safely, the Quay will be closed to traffic from High Street to Fishermans's Dock between
4.00 pm-11.30 pm each Thursday evening throughout July and August.
