28 Jun 00POOLE’S IMAGINATIVE WEBSITE PRAISED
The Borough of Poole’s website was today congratulated for its imaginative approach to Tourism and Community information.
One of four shortlisted sites, Poole received special recognition in the national BT sponsored Local Government Association (LGA) awards ceremony. Announced during the annual LGA conference at the BIC, Poole was pipped at the post by Rutland County Council.
Brian Townshend, Marketing Officer (New Media) said, ‘We are delighted to be considered in the top four for this category, however perhaps the greatest recognition we receive is positive feedback from users. The website is two years old this month and a lot of people have been involved in its success. With this continued commitment and enthusiasm we are confident we can continue to develop the site to deliver a greater range of services and information in electronic format.’
Poole’s unique ‘Web Test Drive Team’, a group of Poole residents who test and refine new web developments have provided key insights to ensure the website is innovative as well as user friendly.
Brian Townshend added: ‘The insight the Test Drive Team provide is fundamental to our success, as they represent the people using the website and help us to make sure we have got it right.’
Poole’s latest website features include
· up to the minute news on current and planned road works complete with an interactive map to help residents and visitors avoid traffic delays
· Leisure pages now with an interactive database of activities and clubs in the area
