Making Poole a better place to do business

Borough of Poole’s Annual Business Conference takes place at the Lighthouse link will open in new window, Poole, on Thursday 6 November and is the culmination of a year of action by businesses and policy makers to make Poole a better place to do business.

An invited audience of 100 senior representatives from the local business community, Borough of Poole, business support agencies, further and higher education and other local bodies, will hear feedback from three business led Task Groups. Since last year’s conference, these groups have been working on definite actions to enhance the areas of skills development, site availability and transportation. Conference delegates will be given the opportunity to contribute to this work.

In addition, the Council will update delegates on Full Sail Ahead, Poole’s regeneration Initiative and other developments and how they affect the town now and in the future.

Another dimension will be provided by keynote speaker, Roger Laughton, Head of Bournemouth University’s Media School link will open in new window. He will talk about the wealth of creative talent emerging locally from higher and further education and, the potential the conurbation has to develop as a major centre for media and creative industries.

Councillor Ron Parker, Cabinet Portfolio holder for Local Economy, said: "This is a great opportunity for local businesses to share ideas to enhance and develop an already fast growing and flourishing business community. By joining forces the difference that is made will work for everyone in developing present and future business, strengthening existing business and encouraging new enterprise to develop within Poole. This Conference is a result of a lot of hard work from all sides and highlights just how dedicated the businesses of Poole are to making Poole a better place to do business."

The breakfast conference will be followed by the Contact B2B Poole Exhibition, which is open to all businesses from 10.00am until 5.00pm. The Council is taking a prominent position in this exhibition and will be showcasing the Full Sail Ahead…Regeneration Initiative and the services available to businesses. The day will be rounded up with a Business Link Wessex Seminar.
