26 Apr 06Young Achievers Receive Awards
The achievements of children and young people who are looked after by the Borough of Poole have been celebrated in a special award ceremony held at the Harbour Heights Hotel
in Poole.
Hosted by the Borough’s Children and Families, Social Services and Education Units, the event, which took place on 6 April, saw 23 Children and Young People receive awards for sporting and academic achievements, school attendance, involvement in the Princes Trust
and overcoming barriers.
The youngsters were presented with individual certificates, a personalised shield and a voucher by the Mayor of Poole, Councillor Lou Knight.

A short video was played showing clips of the young people and workers talking about their individual achievements and a care leaver spoke of her experience of achieving success against the odds.
Councillor Tony Woodcock, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services said: “All of the youngsters commended at the ceremony are cared for by foster families in the Borough and we are very proud of their achievements. Against all the odds they have achieved fantastic accolades that are very much well deserved.”
