Poole Park and Ride to Operate for Christmas 2004

An improved park & ride bus service will operate this year between Creekmoor and Poole town centre. The service will operate on the four Saturdays before Christmas starting on 27 November and it will also operate on the three Bank Holidays following Christmas and New Year's Day (27, 28 December and 3 January).

The buses will depart the Creekmoor park & ride site every 15 minutes from 8.00 am, which is earlier than last year to support town centre shop workers. The last bus back from the Falkland Square Shopping Centre stop will be 6.15pm.

Last year's bus fares have been held for 2004 at £1.00 return for adults and up to two children under 16 years will travel free when accompanied by an adult. Concessionary fare bus passes are also valid for travel on this service.

Shamrock Buses, who operated the very successful park & ride last year, will be providing the service on a commercial basis without subsidy from the Borough of Poole.

Councillor Ron Parker, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Local Economy, Borough of Poole, said: "I am delighted that Shamrock Buses are able to support the town in this way. On Saturdays the park & ride will provide good connections with the Route One town centre bus service to the lower High Street, Poole Quay and the hospital. This unique opportunity to get around the town over Christmas is part of the Borough's programme of making it more attractive to our residents."
