CARERS HAVE A BREAK AND CELEBRATE

Tickets are going fast for the Carers Party on Friday 15 June which is being held in celebration of National Carers Week 12-18 June 2000.

The popular party, which includes live music and entertainment, is one of hottest tickets during a week of useful information events and conferences held for local carers.

Hosted by Poole Social Services, the free evening party is open to all carers who live in Poole and look after a friend or relative with a disability or illness.

Val Mitchell, Carers Development Officer, Borough of Poole, said: "Last year’s party was a great success and we would like more people to come and join in the fun. If anyone interested in coming along is worried about looking after their friend or relative, we have information on the new low cost service which can provide a sitter whilst they come to the party."

She added: "We hope this opportunity to meet other carers in a relaxed atmosphere will encourage people who are caring to take the regular breaks which can help them cope. We are now down to our last few tickets, so I would urge anyone thinking of coming along to ring as soon as you can to get yours!"

Anyone who would like tickets for the carers party or information on any of the Carer’s Week events should contact Val Mitchell on tel: (01202) 261170 or Lynne Payton on tel: (01202) 261174.
