Celebrating One Year of Delivering Better Homes

Poole Housing Partnership celebrated their first birthday on 1 April 2005.
To mark the occasion, all PHP residents who have the same birthday as the company were invited to a celebration at the Civic Centre. Each of the residents who came along were presented with a gift and a commemorative card from Poole Housing Partnership's Chairman of the Board of Directors, Bill Constance.

Since becoming an ALMO last year, Poole Housing Partnership have gone from strength to strength. In December 2004, the company achieved a 3-star excellent rating from the Audit Commission, which secured £35 million of government funding to help bring Council homes across Poole up to the Decent Homes Standard.

In their first year Poole Housing Partnership have installed hundreds of new kitchens and doors and have ordered over 500 disabled adaptations to homes across Poole, that range from grab rails to bathroom refurbishments featuring walk-in shower units; all to help improve the quality of life for Poole's residents.

Chairman of the Board of Directors, Bill Constance, said, "Our first year has been a great success and that's what we're celebrating today. Along with our 3-star accolade we have achieved a lot in our first year, making many improvements to our services and properties alike. It's been an exciting year, and it is our aim to keep improving and building on our success year-on-year so we continue to deliver high quality housing management services and homes that people feel proud to live in."

During the past 12 months, Poole Housing Partnership have established the Tenancy Support Team who have supported 77 tenants through some difficult situations. These include helping 18 families to move to more appropriate accommodation; enabling three tenants to maintain their tenancies and avoid imminent eviction; supporting tenants with rent arrears and collecting £3574.00 in overdue rent and supporting three victims of violence through court and beyond. In our 32 Sheltered Housing Schemes, the 1200 sheltered tenants have had individual support plans set up over the past year.

Since April 2004 the staff at Poole Housing Partnership have raised a total of £2716.08 for various charities, including the Tsunami Appeal, Children In Need, Poole Hospital Neo-Natal Unit, Julia's House, Jeans For Genes and Comic Relief.

Poole Housing Partnership's support for charity continues with an abseil from the top of Nelson Court, Poole in May to raise money for The Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust. For further details visit the News page at www.poolehousingpartnership.org.uk
