6 Apr 00FREE FOOD SAFETY TRAINING
120 local hotels, restaurants, nursing homes, takeaway outlets and other food companies are to take part in a professional training course on the safe handling of food.
The course, which is free to all participants, has been organised by Consumer Protection Services at the Borough of Poole. The training will focus on the relatively new legal requirement to undertake a ‘hazard analysis’ in all food operations and will take participants through many aspects of food safety. A Certificate will be awarded to all who participated.
The course will be repeated on 4 individual days at Upton House starting on 10 April. Participants will be trained by Abbafield Food Hygiene Training, a locally based company, on behalf of Consumer Protection Services.
Graham Curtis, Chairman of the Public Protection Committee said:
"The Council has a team of officers who everyday visit food premises advising on various aspects of food handling to ensure that legal standards are met.
Companies regularly ask for help and advice on the best ways of handling food and we have therefore developed this training course to meet the demand. By meeting in a group it enables everyone to share ideas and best practice."
If the course proves a success, it is hoped that others will follow. Anyone interested in further details can contact the Consumer Protection team on 01202 261710 / 261719
