Beaufort House, at Canford School, was designed by PRP Architects of East Molesey, in Surrey and built by George and Harding Limited of Warminster. The judging panel admired this fine piece of architecture of subtle details and high quality materials in a wonderful sylvan setting. "Its supreme design and quality is undeniable and it is a pity that it is not in a more prominent part of the public realm," said a spokesman for the judging panel.
The west stand at Poole Stadium was designed by Barlow Henley Architects of Bristol, built by Earnest Ireland Construction of Christchurch for Poole Stadium Limited. Jim Brooks commented: "This building has breathed new life into Poole's Stadium." The judges particularly appreciated the glass wall and its aspect onto the activities at the Stadium.
Inductoheat Banyard Limited at Factory Road Industrial Estate in Upton. The addition of an individually designed suite of offices fronted by a well designed landscaped area has transformed a previously drab warehouse building into an attractive integrated building. The design was by Mr T Wood of Wareham and built by Spetisbury Construction of Sturminster Marshall. The judges were impressed by the incredible transformation that had been achieved and praised the owners for their boldness in making such a strong statement.
Finally, a Commendation is awarded to the offices and employee facilities at Precision Disc Castings on Mannings Heath Road. The judges applauded the decision to make a positive architectural statement in an area of heavy industrial sheds. The building was designed by George and Harding Design and Construction Limited and built by their building company.
