2 Mar 07Thousands Sign Up For 'Fair Deal For Poole'
More than 5,000 residents have now signed up to Borough of Poole's "Fair Deal for Poole" campaign.
So far, 5,144 people have declared their support for the campaign, which demands an end to unfair funding from the Government, by signing the Council's petition, letter or internet 'e-petition
'.
Council leaders will again be urging shoppers to back the "Fair Deal" campaign at the Dolphin Shopping Centre in Poole on Saturday March 3, between 10am and 4pm.
Poole is the fourth worst-funded Unitary Authority in the country and Councillors are calling on residents to play an active role and support the cross-party campaign.
A copy of the "Fair Deal" petition - and a letter addressed to the Prime Minister - were delivered to homes and businesses across the Borough, with the Council's own publication Poole News.
Since the campaign's launch at the end of January, residents have been returning their completed letters and petitions to the Civic Centre and other "Fair Deal" collection points set up at libraries and leisure centres in Poole.
Leader of the Council, Cllr Brian Leverett said: "I would like to thank the thousands of residents who have sent us their letters and petitions. We want everyone in Poole to back the Council's campaign and let the Government know that Poole demands a 'Fair Deal'."
