20 May 05Team Up to Clean Up
For a week in June the Borough of Poole's Pride in Poole initiative is looking for groups of people to come together in support of National Volunteers Week to Team Up to Clean Up.
Team Up to Clean Up is a chance for everyone to put something back into the local environment. During the first week of our last event, volunteers removed in excess of five tonnes of discarded waste. It is hoped that voluntary groups, businesses, schools and individuals will take up the challenge between the 1-7 June and pick an area of Poole to clean.
Cllr Don Collier, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for the Environment, Borough of Poole, said: "If you are tired of litter, fly-tipping, graffiti and neglected pieces of land spoiling the appearance of your neighbourhood, then prove just how much you loathe it and get out on the streets, local parks and recreation grounds this June and get active cleaning up.
"Cleaning up Poole needs to involve everyone because each of us as individuals have a role to play in caring for our neighbourhoods and respecting the communities in which we live, work and play."
The Borough of Poole will provide groups of volunteers with litter pickers, gloves, plastic sacks, skips where necessary, and arrange for the removal of any waste collected.
