14 Jun 05Opening of the Packe Family Mausoleum
This year the Packe Family Mausoleum will be opening its doors to the public on the afternoon of Thursday 30 June 2005.
The Mausoleum, built in 1867, is the last remaining evidence that the Packe family owned most of what is now Branksome Park in the mid 19th Century.
This small, stone, chapel-like building was hidden behind trees and dense vegetation until a few years ago, when in 1993, the Borough of Poole took over the building and restored it to its current condition.
The Packe Mausoleum stands at the top of the road to Branksome Dene Chine car park, just to the rear of number 25 Pinewood Road.
There is no need to book, simply turn up at either 15.30, 16.15 or 17.00.
