National Young Driver of the Year Competition
The Young Driver of the Year Competition was set up after a 21 year-old car driver, who had been involved in a race with a motorcyclist, tragically killed 27-year old driver Catherine Kenyon in 1990.
The competition is now in its 12th year and is being organised by RoSPA
. All 17-24 year-old drivers are invited to register
for one of 8 regional heats to be held throughout September and early October. The South West regional heat will be held at the Devon Driver Centre, Exeter. At the heats competitors will complete an on-road assessment with a RoSPA advanced driving assessor and 5 finalists from each heat will be selected to attend the national final at Silverstone on Sunday 17th October.
Last Year's winner was Craig Shaw, aged 18, from Hereford. Craig's prizes were a trophy, entry and training to race in the Uniroyal Team Challenge at a major UK circuit, £500 CIS car insurance and Green Flag membership.
