Open Morning at Poole Crematorium

Poole residents are invited to an Open Morning at Poole Crematorium on Wednesday 30 June from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  A number of significant improvements have recently been made at the crematorium, including the installation of a new conservatory along with a planned new memorial garden. The new memorial garden has been designed to offer an alternative resting place for ashes.

Jayne Taylor, Business Manager, Borough of Poole, said:  “Many people are now looking for a place where ashes can be interred with a personal memorial.  Whilst our woodland gardens provide a natural environment for people to inter ashes we did not, until now, offer the opportunity at the crematorium to do so in a more formal and personal way.”

Councillor Don Collier, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Leisure Services said:  “Many people still have concerns about cremation and the open morning will give them an opportunity to talk with our knowledgeable and approachable bereavement team about any aspect of our service.”

Karen Fry, Superintendent Registrar, Borough of Poole, said:  “There has been a great deal of public interest in this project and we hope that local people will now take the opportunity to come to the Open Morning to see the completed works and tour the grounds and facilities”.

Poole Crematorium is situated on the outskirts of Poole on the A349 Poole to Wimborne Road and on the edge of Canford Heath. There will be ample parking available and staff will be on hand to direct visitors.  If anyone would like further information about the crematorium, please contact the crematorium staff on 01202 602582.
