Time Doesn't Stand Still at the Guildhall in Poole

Refurbishment works have begun on the Guildhall in Market Street, Poole and are set to continue through to April 2007.

In order to carry out the refurbishment works, the clock will be set at 12.00 pm on Friday 24 November and will not be restarted until 6 April 2007.

John Hurlock,  Project Manager for Property Services said:  “We apologise for this unavoidable inconvenience but decided that it would be better to switch the clock off rather than have erratic time keeping due to power outages during the refurbishment.”

Improvements will enable the Guildhall to house the Borough’s Civil Registration Service, creating an attractive venue for weddings and civil partnership ceremonies.

Cllr Neil Sorton, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Resources including Property, said: “This is an exciting project of refurbishment which will result in this stunning building being used to its full potential and as a setting for many happy occasions.”

The Guildhall project is managed by the Borough of Poole, Property Services on behalf of Legal and Democratic Services
