It’s not often a bus gets its own birthday party but on 2 April celebrations were held as the 'Parkstone and Rossmore Flyer' reached its first anniversary.
The distinctive green 'Route 8' bus is now a familiar sight on the roads as it takes Alderney East and Bourne Estate residents to their local shops and amenities on Ashley Road. In addition the circular route is now extended to serve Alton Road, Sandecotes Road and Penn Hill Avenue in Lower Parkstone.
Passenger numbers have rocketed since the route was re-launched last year and over 40,000 have used the bus in its first year.

Local coach company Roadliner
are the operators of the revitalised 'Flyer' which is supported by the Borough of Poole. Customers have benefited from the introduction of a luxury air conditioned vehicle with coach style seating and, most importantly, friendly drivers!
Steve Tite, Acting Head of Transportation Services, said: “This is a great example of 'socially necessary' bus service and we are delighted that the Flyer’s fortunes has been transformed in the last year.”
Mark Self, Managing Director of Roadliner Passenger Transport said: “Our emphasis is on great customer care and we have shown that by running a modern, clean and reliable service we can tempt people out of their cars and onto a bus.”
