1 Sep 98FRENCH STREET MARKET SET TO ATTRACT THOUSANDS
POOLE Quay will be transformed into a little corner of France when traders from all round Normandy take over for the annual French Street Market.
The event, now in it’s fourth year, has proved enormously popular with residents and visitors alike, attracting an estimated 40,000 people last year.
The tempting aromas of Gallic bread, cheese, garlic and honey will fill the air on 12 and 13 September for the market, supported by the Daily Echo.
There are also traders offering leather goods, linen, jewellery, traditional kitchenware, perfume and cosmetics.
Accordion players and jazz bands will add to the atmosphere and the Poole-Cherbourg Twinning Association will be manning a boules pitch, sponsored by A1 Hire, for anyone who would like to ‘have a go’.
French Street Market Co-ordinator Anne Simpson said: "The market has been a fantastic success in past years, helping to prolong the tourist season and giving people an extra reason to visit us.
"The Quay is now a well-established venue for events, especially following on from the Poole Quay Summer Festivals, and we are looking forward to another successful market."
