13 Feb 04By-Election to come in Poole
Councillor Bob Dugdale, who has represented Poole’s Alderney Ward for over a decade, has resigned from the Council due to poor health.
Councillor Dugdale said: "I am sorry to leave the Council after so many years, unfortunately my health is still deteriorating and has not improved as I had hoped. I feel very proud to have represented my many constituents in Alderney over the years but now feel that I need to retire and hand the reins over to somebody else."
Councillor Dugdale joined Poole Council in October 1993. He and his wife have lived in Alderney for 35 years. A great deal of Councillor Dugdale’s work in the community involved supporting people with housing issues and before he was a Councillor he was Chairman of the Tenants & Residents Association for Alderney West.
The resignation of Councillor Dugdale means that a by-election will take place for Poole’s Alderney Ward.
Nomination papers for the Borough of Poole Election are available from and must be delivered to The Returning Officer, Civic Centre, Poole BH15 2PU by Friday 20 February 2004. If any election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday 18 March 2004. For further information visit: boroughofpoole.com/elections.
