Volunteers Required for New Information Service

Volunteers are needed to help with Poole's new local information service for GP patients and their carers.

The service, entitled "Signposting - people for people", is a joint initiative between Borough of Poole Social Services and the Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme (RSVP).

Based at doctors' surgeries throughout the Borough, volunteers will be able to provide a wealth of social and health care information to support the work of the GP. Information may include details about particular illnesses and support available to patients and carers.

A series of Tuesday morning training sessions will start on 22nd September 1998. Volunteers must be able to give four hours per week, have good communication skills, a friendly outlook and a sensitive approach. Support will be provided by the RSVP network which has an extensive range of volunteer projects across the UK, and all expenses incurred by volunteers will be reimbursed.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact Molly on (01202) 658243.
