Developments for Poole's car parks

CCTV IMPROVES SAFETY

The multi-storey car park in Serpentine Road, Poole is the latest to be equipped with closed circuit television cameras.

The cameras, which have already been installed in all the Council’s other town centre car parks, will help improve safety for the public and their vehicles.

Police figures show that CCTV plays a key role in averting crime with a reported reduction of 75% in crime since it was first introduced.

Chair of the Borough of Poole’s Traffic Sub-Committee Cllr Mark Howlett said: "Crime in car parks has been a big problem. Although CCTV is initially expensive to install, we believe the public and their vehicles deserve to enjoy the safest environment we can provide."

FREE MOTORBIKE BAYS

Free motorcycle parking bays have been introduced in or near all of Poole Council’s town centre car parks.

The move aims to encourage motorists to use this more environmentally friendly mode of transport.

Cllr Mark Howlett said: "We are committed to doing everything we can to ease traffic congestion around Poole and this scheme also supports our commitment to Travelwise."

NEW TICKET MACHINES

The ticket machines at Seldown multi-storey car park have been replaced to fall in line with other car parks in Poole.

Cllr Mark Howlett said: "The machines were old and needed replacing. We now have conformity of machines in our multi-storey car parks which should help avoid confusion."
