On Monday 12 October, Cllr Annette Brooke, Chairman of the Education Committee and Dr Shirley Goodwin, Policy Director (Education) will be meeting with Keith Baldock, Headteacher and pupils of The Martin Kemp-Welch School to see the school's newly updated and refurbished food technology rooms and science laboratories.

The project was funded by an award of £175,000 made under the Government's New Deal for Schools initiative. This Government initiative was launched last summer and Poole was successful in obtaining additional funding for Ashdown Secondary School and St. Mary's Combined School.

The Headteacher, Keith Baldock, expressed delight on behalf of his Governors, staff and pupils, at the improvements to the school. He said "The new facilities have certainly enhanced the learning opportunities for our pupils and we are confident this will be reflected in their achievements."

Councillor Mrs Brooke added, "I am sure the pupils will really benefit from these excellent new specialist facilities. The local community can be proud of their school and its contribution to the life of the young people in the area."
