Dulux Mural At Pumpting Station Clinches Award

A mural painting by students from Carter Community School has won a special commendation in the prestigious Dulux Dimensions of Colour competition for 1998.

Painted on the Wessex Water Pumping Station at the entrance to the Turlin Moor estate, the mural was entered in the ‘external’ category and competed with dozens of national entries.

As well as featuring inside and on the front cover of Housing Today in October 1998, it has also been chosen for the front cover of the Single Regeneration Budget annual report which is due to be published shortly.

Neil Poulton, Community Liaison Officer, Borough of Poole said: "The idea of the mural was discussed by the Turlin Moor Focus Group who felt that a mural painting would brighten up the area. The whole project was well supported by Wessex Water, the students who were very enthusiastic and the local people who have given us some very positive comments".

Tomorrow, the Mayor, Councillor Graham Curtis will present the students with a formal letter of notification of the prize, a commemorative plaque, a copy of Housing Today and a photograph of the mural.
