Poole Celebrates Young People's Achievements

Poole’s youngsters were recognised for their achievements recently at the Poole Young People’s Awards at the Civic Centre which was organised by the Borough of Poole’s Pupil, Parent & Youth Services.

24 local young people were given awards by the Mayor of Poole, Councillor Lou Knight, for a range of youth work projects on 27 April 2006. These included volunteering at Limelights and Turlin Moor Youth Centres, producing alcohol education materials for youth centres and schools and participating in the Poole Youth Forum and the Poole Integration Project which represents young people with disabilities and additional needs.

John McBride, the Chief Executive of the Borough of Poole said: “It was a privilege to be part of this event and hear about how these youngsters have contributed to the local community.  It is also a great opportunity to celebrate the positive work of the youth workers involved”.

Mayor of Poole, Councillor Lou Knight: ‘These youngsters are a credit to Poole and I was delighted that, on behalf of the Borough, I was able to give them the recognition they deserve”.
