17 Feb 99Energy Advice Day - Saturday 20th February 1999
Would you like to find out how you can reduce your energy bills by making your home more efficient and helping the environment at the same time? The Borough of Poole, together with local and national businesses will stage an Energy Advice Day in the main square of the Dolphin Shopping Centre this Saturday, 20th February 1999, to pass on advice to local people.
Trevor George, Principal Housing Officer, Borough of Poole said: "There will be up to 15 exhibits on the day and experts will be at hand to answer questions from insulation, draught proofing and solar power thorough to helping the environment by reducing, re-using and recycling rubbish. You can also find out about discounts and grants available to you along with how to obtain free low energy light bulbs".
The exhibition will help you calculate how energy efficient your own property is and decide what energy conservation measures you should be considering for your home. For example did you know that:
· You can benefit from solar power and water recycling - yes even in this country!
· One low energy light bulb can save up to £10 a year off your electric bill
· Cavity wall insulation saves 25% on your fuel bill each year
· Loft insulation saves 10%
· Reflective radiator panels save up to 10%
So whether you've just moved house, want to change your heating system, wonder why your fuel bills are so high, or would like to help the environment more, the Energy Advice Day will offer something for you.
