The Borough of Poole and Dorset Police have joined forces in the latest fight against vehicle crime and anti-social behaviour.
Following a successful bid for funding through a Local Public Sector Agreement, the Council working in partnership with Dorset Police have recruited a dedicated Car Park Security Officer to patrol the council’s car parks. The security officer will work alongside the borough’s car park section, police and town centre management
.
Councillor Ron Parker, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for the Local Economy, Borough of Poole, said: “We hope that the appointment to this post will further enhance the service we are able to give to our customers and that it will help them to feel even safer in the knowledge that there is a further pair of eyes in our car parks who will also be able to offer assistance in other areas.”
All of the Council-owned multi-story car parks have currently achieved Secured Car Parks Status issued by the Association of Chief Police Officers and managed by the British Parking Association. This scheme will in the near future be re-launched as the Safer Parking Scheme.
Richard Hein, Parking Services Manager, Transportation, Borough of Poole, said: “We currently have a very good record in terms of car park crime and wish for this to be maintained, its good to work in these areas with the police to further drive down car crime.”
