26 Mar 04Easter ‘Hops’ into Poole
Falkland Square will be the focal point of a new Easter event "Easter Hops". Poole’s Town Centre is set to have a festive Easter theme from Monday 5th – Sunday 18th April. To reflect the season, Poole will be decorated in the traditional yellow, green and orange trimmings. Entertainment is to be provided by 2CR FM with music and give-aways from the infamous ‘Black Thunders’. However, the centrepiece for the event will be a small Easter Farm provided courtesy of Farmer Palmer’s at Organford, between 5th-10th April shoppers will be able to see the Easter bunnies, chicks, guinea pigs and newly born Spring lambs. The local churches are also involved in a number of the events. There will be street entertainment on 10th with live music and busking by Poole’s Methodist Church. In the second week of Easter, a ‘Songs of Praise’ will round off proceedings at 3.30pm on Sunday 18th April. Town Centre Manager, Helen Crawford said: "This event is being launched as a trial this year and if successful, we may aim for something even bigger and better in the future. We want to make Poole the place to be at Easter, so we are hoping it will be a big hit with families during the school holidays." It will be a very ‘Good Friday’, when we will see the William Webb Ellis ‘Rugby World Cup’ welcomed into Poole Quay at 12.30, in the comfort of Poole’s own Sweet ‘Sunseeker’ Chariot. The World Cup will spend the rest of the visit on display at the Dolphin Centre until 2pm. There will be opportunities to be photographed with the Cup.
