CUSTOMER RELATIONS ANNUAL REPORT

High levels of customer satisfaction will be reported to members of the Borough of Poole's Social Services Committee at its meeting on Thursday 27 May.

The Borough's Social Services Consumer Relations Annual Report shows that from 10,414 referrals during 1998-9, 117 complaints were received, only six of which were not resolved at the initial stage.

Cllr Mrs Jane James, Chairman of the Social Services Committee said: "We are now far more accessible and it's reassuring to know that people can come forward and say if they are unhappy with the service they receive. Over the last year, there have been a number of financial constraints which have led to us tighten some of the criteria under which people receive services. Obviously, some people were concerned about this and their comments are now helping us to fine tune the services we provide."

Other forms of consumer feedback included information gathered from the MORI survey, service monitoring cards, questionnaires, specific surveys, focus groups and exit polls.

Cllr Charles Meachin, Vice-Chairman of the Social Services Committee said: "Communicating with the public is one of our Core Values and comments, suggestions, compliments and complaints help us to look at the way services are provided. We need to make sure these are the services that people want."
