The fun continues with the Liverpool Victoria Summer Festival Evenings beginning on 1 July. Other summer highlights include the Fishermen's Regatta on 17-18 July and the popular French Street Market on 11-12 September.
This summer's events will be formally launched at a reception on 24 June, when lucky winner Fiona Dodds from Broadstone, will be presented with a brand new Vauxhall Astra by Carol Borwick, Head of Sponsorship, Liverpool Victoria Friendly Society. Mrs Dodds won the car, supplied by sponsors Liverpool Victoria, when she entered a free prize draw during last year's Summer Festival.
Carole Borwick said: "We are delighted that we have been able to extend the range of events available during the 1999 Liverpool Victoria Summer Festival. Last year, over 20,000 people came to each Summer Festival Evening to enjoy the stalls, entertainers and fireworks and we hope that this year even more will join in. I am also pleased to announce that we are able to offer a car again during this year's Summer Festival draw. To enter, all you need to do is fill in a form at the Liverpool Victoria stand which will be open on Poole Quay during each festival evening. We look forward to seeing you at what is sure to be a fun packed summer."
Mrs Dodds said: "We had such a fantastic time during last year's Summer Festival Evenings with all the fireworks and entertainment. Our family loved the fun atmosphere and I loved winning the car - it was such an unexpected bonus! We will definitely go down to Poole Quay to see what's going on during this year's festival."
