POOLE'S NEW PLANNING GUIDES

Two new draft guides packed full of practical advice on planning issues have been produced by the Borough of Poole’s Planning Services.

The user friendly guides give helpful advice on a range of issues for anyone submitting a planning application. From people thinking of altering their home, to major developers, the guides cover topics such as design, materials and building layout.

A Design Code includes information on all aspects of design including housing and industrial estate layout, landscaping, crime prevention, energy conservation and the design of individual buildings.

Development of Sites with Trees gives advice how the development of any areas which contain trees should be approached.

Each of the guides aim to make the most of what is uniquely Poole to; protect areas and features of town and landscape importance; encourage the distinct character and identity of local areas through high design quality in all new development.

People in Poole are being asked for their views on the guides.
Cllr Bob Williams, Chairman of the Planning and Transportation Committee said: "We want to hear what people think of the guides. As well as asking residents, we will also be contacting local architects, surveyors, developers and builders for their comments. We hope that everyone will find them clear, concise and full of useful information to help them with any planning issues."
Copies of the documents are available from Borough of Poole’s Planning Design and Control Services and all Poole libraries.
Any comments should be sent to Richard Knott, Planning Design and Control Services, Borough of Poole, Civic Centre, POOLE, BH15 2 RU by Thursday 5th August 1999.
